Smooth Functions in Star-invariant Subspaces
In this note we summarize some necessary and sufficient conditions for subspaces invariant with respect to the backward shift to contain smooth functions. We also discuss smoothness of moduli of functions in such subspaces.
متن کاملSampling Theorems for Multivariate Shift Invariant Subspaces ∗
Regular and irregular sampling theorems for multivariate shift invariant subspaces are studied. We give a characterization of regular points and an irregular sampling theorem, which covers many known results, e.g., Kadec’s 1/4-theorem. We show that some subspaces may not have a regular point. We also present a reconstruction algorithm which is slightly different from the known one but is more e...
متن کاملCharacteristic Functions and Joint Invariant Subspaces
Let T := [T1, . . . , Tn] be an n-tuple of operators on a Hilbert space such that T is a completely non-coisometric row contraction. We establish the existence of a “one-toone” correspondence between the joint invariant subspaces under T1, . . . , Tn, and the regular factorizations of the characteristic function ΘT associated with T . In particular, we prove that there is a non-trivial joint in...
متن کاملHyponormal matrices and semidefinite invariant subspaces in indefinite inner products
It is shown that, for any given polynomially normal matrix with respect to an indefinite inner product, a nonnegative (with respect to the indefinite inner product) invariant subspace always admits an extension to an invariant maximal nonnegative subspace. Such an extension property is known to hold true for general normal matrices if the nonnegative invariant subspace is actually neutral. An e...
متن کاملFinite Sampling in Multiple Generated U-Invariant Subspaces
The relevance in sampling theory of U -invariant subspaces of a Hilbert space H, where U denotes a unitary operator on H, is nowadays a recognized fact. Indeed, shift-invariant subspaces of L(R) become a particular example; periodic extensions of finite signals provide also a remarkable example. As a consequence, the availability of an abstract U -sampling theory becomes a useful tool to handle...
